The Women Affairs Reform Commission has submitted its report to the Chief Adviser of the interim government. On Saturday, members of the commission handed over the report to the Chief Adviser at the state guest house, Jamuna.
In response, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, expressed his astonishment over the recommendations made in the report.
On Sunday night, he shared his reaction through a post on his verified Facebook page.
In the post, the Jamaat Ameer wrote that the commission had submitted its report to Professor Dr. Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, the previous day. He stated that the content of the report had left him astonished.
He further remarked that at a time when the nation is facing various social and family issues due to a decline in moral values, instead of restoring social harmony and beauty based on moral and religious principles, the commission has proposed certain objectionable recommendations. He warned that such suggestions would push society towards uncertainty and serious instability.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also noted that some of the recommendations clearly contradict the teachings of the Quran and Hadith. Additionally, he claimed that they would undermine the values of all religions, and that the people of Bangladesh would unanimously reject them.
