The Ministry of Education has announced a new decision regarding the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), Alim, and equivalent examinations. According to the decision, the exams will be held following the full syllabus prepared by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
This information was confirmed in a directive signed by NCTB’s acting chairman, Rabiul Kabir Chowdhury, issued on Wednesday.
As stated in the notice, students who enrolled in class XI during the 2024–25 academic session began their classes in the second week of August 2024. These students will sit for the HSC, Alim, and equivalent exams in May–June 2026. The exams will be conducted based on full marks and full duration, following the complete curriculum prescribed by the NCTB.
In the past few years, due to the spread of COVID-19, the exams were held based on an abridged syllabus. However, with this new decision, the Ministry of Education is returning to full syllabus-based examinations.
