-

A devastating fire broke out at the Kandapara brothel in Tangail, burning down 22 rooms across three houses. The incident occurred on Saturday morning (June 28) in the Kandapara area of Tangail town. Fire service personnel managed to bring the blaze under control after nearly an hour of effort.

According to witnesses, the fire started around 11:30 AM when a gas cylinder exploded during cooking in one of the houses. The flames quickly spread to nearby rooms. Locals initially attempted to extinguish the fire with water but were unsuccessful. The fire service was then alerted and promptly responded.

The blaze destroyed 12 residential rooms and several shops. Cash, furniture, televisions, refrigerators, books, and other household items were completely burnt. The exact amount of the financial loss could not be determined immediately.

Victims said the fire consumed all their belongings within an hour, leaving them in despair about how they will survive in the coming days. They urged the government for immediate support and assistance.

S.M. Humayun Karnayan, Senior Station Officer of Tangail Fire Service and Civil Defense, stated that four firefighting units were dispatched immediately upon receiving the report. Thanks to the nearby pond and help from locals, the fire was brought under control relatively quickly.
