Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has criticized India’s diplomatic response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, calling it “childish” and “lacking maturity.” The remarks were reported by BBC Urdu on Thursday.
Speaking on a private Pakistani television channel, Dar said, “India’s actions are immature and lack the perspective expected from a responsible state.”
He added, “Once again, India is trying to blame Pakistan without concrete evidence, just as it has done in the past. We will give a strong and appropriate response at the proper diplomatic forums.”
Regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, Dar noted that the issue has been a long-standing dispute between the two countries. “If India truly has any proof, it should bring it forward,” he stated.
In response to the attack, India took several significant diplomatic measures on Wednesday. Citing Pakistan’s alleged support for cross-border terrorism, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, sealed its main land border with Pakistan, expelled Pakistani diplomats, and revoked certain visas of Pakistani nationals residing in India—ordering them to leave within 48 hours.
The attack occurred on Tuesday in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir. Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists, killing 26 people, including one Nepali national and 25 Indian citizens. It is considered the deadliest civilian massacre in Kashmir in the past 25 years.
