Rising War Tensions: Chief Advisor Urges Maximum Preparedness Amid India-Pakistan Conflict

-

Tensions are escalating between India and Pakistan following a recent gun attack in Kashmir, creating what experts are calling a near-war situation. In light of this, Bangladesh must also remain fully prepared, emphasized Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the interim government.

He made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Bangladesh Air Force’s annual exercise ‘Akash Bijoy–2025’.

Dr. Yunus stated, “Personally, I am strongly against war. I do not support war in any form. However, war seems to surround us. We live in a world where threats of war are constant. In such a scenario, it is impossible to remain unprepared.”

He further added, “Right now, we are witnessing a war-like situation on the India-Pakistan border. It is crucial that we remain vigilant. Half-hearted preparations won’t suffice—we must ensure complete and thorough readiness. Any lack of preparation could prove suicidal.”

Addressing the current state of Bangladesh’s economy, the Chief Advisor remarked, “Our economy is in a fragile state. It has been severely looted and weakened by the previous government. In this context, comprehensive national preparedness is essential. It will not only boost our collective confidence but also inspire our youth.”

Praising the capabilities of the Bangladesh Air Force, Dr. Yunus said, “The Air Force is progressing steadily in terms of modernization. They are always prepared to safeguard our sovereignty. The use of indigenous technology reflects their self-reliance. The government is actively supporting the force in acquiring advanced technologies. Maintaining professional and technical competence is key to building a strong and developed nation.”
