One Killed, 20 Injured in Clash Between Two BNP Factions in Jhenaidah

One person was killed and at least 20 others were injured in a clash between two rival factions of the BNP over local dominance in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila. The incident occurred around 12 PM on Wednesday (April 30) in Dighirpar village of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Mosharraf Molla, son of the late Shamsher Molla of the same village. Among the injured, one man named Jahangir was critically wounded and has been transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. The others were admitted to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital and various nearby medical facilities.

According to locals, a longstanding conflict existed between BNP leaders Alim Uddin Member and Kawsar Molla in Dighirpar village. On Wednesday morning, an argument broke out between Mosharraf and supporters of Kawsar Molla. Later, Kawsar’s men reportedly attacked Mosharraf and his associates with locally-made weapons, leading to Mosharraf’s death on the spot.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station, Abdullah Al Mamun, said that a large number of police personnel have been deployed to the area to bring the situation under control.
