KUET Teachers’ Association Stands Against Forced Removal of Vice-Chancellor

-

The KUET (Khulna University of Engineering & Technology) Teachers’ Association has declared that it will not accept any decision to remove the Vice-Chancellor under pressure. They have urged all parties to engage in dialogue before making any final decisions.

This stance was announced during a press conference held at 1 PM in the conference room of the university’s administrative building. Present at the event were the association’s president, Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam, and general secretary, Professor Dr. Md. Faruque Hossain, along with several other faculty members.

Speaking at the event, Professor Dr. Ashraful Gani Bhuiyan expressed disappointment over the fact that the Education Adviser held discussions with students but did not consult the teachers. “We are deeply hurt,” he said. “Only a few students took part in protests, yet the media portrayed KUET as being in turmoil. The university has over 5,000 students.”

He added, “Students are labeling teachers with political tags, which is unfortunate. A small group of students physically assaulted the Vice-Chancellor and even spat on him. Some teachers were also harassed and verbally abused.” He demanded justice for these incidents.
