COVID-19 Death Reported in Jashore General Hospital ICU

-

A COVID-19 positive patient has died at Jashore General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The deceased, Sheikh Amir Hossain, was the son of the late Sheikh Mokhsed Ali from Jahurpur village in Bagharpara upazila. Dr. Robiul Islam Tuhin, the in-charge of the ICU, confirmed the death.

According to hospital sources, Amir Hossain was admitted to the hospital’s model ward on June 5 with abdominal pain. He had been receiving treatment there until Sunday, when he began to show additional symptoms including fever. As his condition worsened, the attending doctor recommended ICU admission. However, due to unavailability of beds, he remained in the general ward.

On Tuesday morning, an ICU bed became available, and his family shifted him there. Doctors then advised a COVID-19 test. His family arranged a rapid antigen test at a private facility, which confirmed he was COVID-19 positive. He passed away early Wednesday morning.

Dr. Robiul Islam Tuhin stated that Amir was initially admitted under the surgery department due to kidney-related complications. He also mentioned that three other patients currently in the ICU are suspected of having COVID-19, and their samples have been sent for testing.
