Leaving behind the old and embracing a future of prosperity, the people of Jashore welcomed the Bengali New Year 1432 with vibrant festivities, cultural pride, and a renewed commitment to resist negative forces. A host of programs and colorful processions were organized across the city as various cultural organizations and institutions came together to celebrate the occasion in a traditional yet festive spirit.

From the early hours of the morning, Jashore’s streets and public spaces were abuzz with energy and color. With traditional Baishakhi attire, musical performances, and artistic displays, the city immersed itself in the essence of Bengali heritage. At 6:31 AM, the day began with simultaneous programs across various venues organized by multiple cultural groups.

Surbitan Sangeet Academy held its program at the Rowshan Ali stage at Town Hall field, while Udichi arranged events at the Municipal Park. Punascha hosted celebrations at the Muslim Academy ground, Biborton and Surdhuni Sangeet Niketan arranged their own events at the Navokisholoy School ground. The District Puja Celebration Council and several other organizations also organized separate events at their own venues. Each event reflected a unique cultural touch, incorporating music, dance, and traditional decorations, enhancing the spirit of the day.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the series of processions brought out by various organizations. In the morning, groups gathered at the Jashore Collectorate premises, dressed in festive attire and carrying banners, traditional masks, and colorful props. At 9:30 AM, a grand mass procession led by the district administration began, featuring participation from almost all cultural and social organizations of the district.

The rally, infused with dance, music, and joyful expressions, moved through the major streets of the city. Officials from the district administration, police department, and local cultural figures, alongside people of all ages, joined in to mark the beginning of the new year with unity and enthusiasm.

Among the distinguished attendees was artist Mahbub Jamal Shamim, the creator of the iconic Mongol Shobhajatra (auspicious procession), who was specially honored by the district administration for his contribution to Bengali culture and art.

Various cultural groups like Charupith and others brought aesthetic flair to the procession with large thematic displays and artistic installations, which attracted attention and appreciation from onlookers. The parade symbolized harmony, resistance to evil, and the triumph of good — all central themes of the New Year festivities.

While most morning programs concluded by around 10:30 AM, the spirit of celebration continued throughout the day. Within the premises of different organizations and at the event venues, arrangements were made for sweets and refreshments. People exchanged greetings, shared laughter, and spent time in lively discussions, making the occasion a true celebration of community bonding.

As the day progressed, cultural performances resumed across different locations. In the afternoon and evening, Udichi continued its events at the Municipal Park, while Punascha, Biborton, and Surdhuni held their respective programs at the Muslim Academy ground and Navokisholoy School field. These performances included traditional music, folk dance, recitation, and theatrical displays that echoed the rich cultural legacy of Bengal.

Organizers expressed their commitment to preserving and passing on Bengali traditions to the younger generation. The celebrations stood as a testament to the enduring spirit of Bengali identity and cultural pride.

As the sun set on the first day of the New Year, the city of Jashore remained alive with joy, hope, and togetherness. The day’s theme resonated clearly — to shed the burdens of the past and march forward toward a brighter, more prosperous future.
