Eid-ul-Azha 2025 Celebrated Across Bangladesh with Devotion and Sacrifice

-

Eid-ul-Azha, one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims, is being observed across Bangladesh with due reverence, spiritual solemnity, and the profound spirit of sacrifice. Known locally as the “Festival of Sacrifice” or “Qurbani Eid,” this occasion has for generations illuminated the ideals of devotion and selflessness among devout Muslims.

This morning, worshippers across the country gathered at local Eidgahs and mosques to offer the two-rakat wajib Eid-ul-Azha prayers. Following the prayers, capable Muslims offered animal sacrifices seeking the pleasure of Almighty Allah. The sacrificial act can be performed until the Asr prayer on the second day after Eid, which this year falls on Monday.

According to Islamic tradition, the meat of the sacrificed animals must be divided into three equal parts: one for the poor, one for relatives and friends, and one for personal consumption.

In Jessore, the main congregation was held at the central Eidgah Maidan at 7:30 AM. The ground was filled with worshippers well before the prayer began. In the post-prayer khutbah, the significance of Qurbani, lessons of self-sacrifice, and the call for humanity were emphasized. Special prayers were also offered for global Muslim unity, peace, and particularly for oppressed Muslims around the world, including those in Palestine.

Prominent attendees of the central congregation included Jessore Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Azaharul Islam, BNP Central Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit, District Jamaat Ameer Professor Golam Rasul, Municipal Administrator Rafiqul Hasan, and other notable citizens from various professions. The post-prayer embrace and greetings reflected a deep sense of human solidarity and communal harmony.
