Our Journey

Committed to truth, objectivity, and being a voice for the oppressed, Gramer Kagoj has proudly completed over two decades of journalism in Jessore and the greater southwestern region of Bangladesh.

Founded on March 26, 1999, by Mobinul Islam Mobin, the newspaper began as a weekly publication and transitioned into a daily on December 22, 2001. On March 17, 2002, it became the first colored daily in the region, marking a new milestone in local journalism.

With a team of dedicated young journalists, Gramer Kagoj quickly earned the trust of its readers through unbiased and impactful news. Beyond journalism, the paper has actively participated in social welfare. When a poor orphan girl named Munni needed heart surgery, Gramer Kagoj raised nearly 500,000 BDT for her treatment. The paper also supported Beauty, the daughter of folk icon Lalon, during her time in the spotlight through the Close-Up One talent show.

Gramer Kagoj embraced digital transformation early, launching its official online platform on March 13, 2010:

In a major leap toward global outreach, Gramer Kagoj launched its official English website on March 26, 2025, aiming to connect with a broader international audience and present news from Bangladesh to the world.

These innovations made Gramer Kagoj accessible worldwide, offering up-to-date news anytime, even from mobile devices—no app needed, just an internet connection.

As Jessore became Bangladesh’s first digital district in 2013, Gramer Kagoj had already set the standard by going digital in 2010—becoming a pioneer in the southwestern media landscape.

Our journey continues with integrity, innovation, and an unwavering dedication to serve our readers both at home and abroad.
