One person was killed and at least 10 others were injured during the Ulto Rath Yatra (return chariot festival) of Sri Sri Yasho Madhab in Dhamrai, Dhaka. The incident occurred around 6:30 PM on Saturday, July 5.

The deceased has been identified as Mojibur Rahman, a resident of Mathbaria in Pirojpur district. Among the injured, two women—Kona Rani from Kaliakoir and Rita Rani Sarkar from Munshiganj—are reported to be in critical condition. Kona sustained a fractured arm while Rita suffered broken ribs.

According to eyewitnesses, as the chariot was being pulled towards Rathkhola in the presence of thousands of devotees, it veered to one side, causing a rush in the crowd. In the chaos, two support poles of a nearby shop collapsed, injuring several people. The injured were taken to Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex and nearby clinics for treatment.

Dr. Ahmedul Haque Titas, the Residential Medical Officer at the health complex, confirmed that two of the injured, including a child, received treatment there. One of the victims with a leg fracture was referred to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), commonly known as the Pangu Hospital.

Sub-Inspector Subodh Chandra Barman stated that Mojibur Rahman collapsed on the road amid the heavy crowd and was taken to a nearby shop, where he was later pronounced dead.

Babu Nanda Gopal Sen, Joint General Secretary of the Madhab Mandir and Rath Yatra Organizing Committee, said he had received reports of several injuries during the event.

Dhamrai Police Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam confirmed the fatality and said multiple injured persons were receiving treatment in various hospitals.
